On Saturday, many of us parents and teachers had the pleasure of watching the U10 Boys win the International School Sports Association (ISSA) basketball league for 2022/23 by beating Aga Khan in this season’s finals. The boys gave it their best and despite leading for most the game, found themselves down by 2 points with 24 seconds to go. Without faltering in their confidence and incredibly keeping their nerve, they scored 3 points in the last 10 seconds of the game to take the trophy 19-18. There was a wonderful energy from the team and supporters, and I’d like to thank everyone who joined us early on Saturday morning to support the team. It was a great way to end the basketball season which saw us also take 2nd and 3rd place for the U8s basketball (we fielded two teams) and 3rd place in the U10s girls basketball. Congratulations to all our players – there has been so much growth and determination throughout the season and we look forward to even more amazing basketball performances in the next basketball season. For now we have a week “off” matches as we prepare for the football season which starts at the beginning of February. Look out for the upcoming fixtures.
This coming week marks the end of our Unit 2a and students will all be participating in their end of unit projects. On Tuesday we will also be hosting STEM Day for Year 1 students from different international schools. Year 1 students will get to participate in different STEM stations with students from Ambrosoli, the French School, Heritage and Acacia International schools. Activities are hosted throughout the year at different schools for different age groups. We are looking forward to welcoming the students to KCIS – we are sure the Year 1s will enjoy showing students around KCIS and working through the STEM activities with their peers.
