The value of students being able to relate their learning to everyday life cannot be underestimated. This is achieved through not only learning about a broad range of global topics but also hosting guest speakers on a regular basis to enhance the students’ learning experience. Online communication allows us to host guest speakers from all over the world including from the UK, the US, India and New Zealand.
In every unit students also go on a field trip related to their current unit of learning. They have met & interviewed the Kyabazinga of Busoga (kingdoms of Uganda); explored Mabira rainforest (rainforests); hosted a member of the police’s criminal investigations department (CID) for a Q&A (crime and punishment); visited the National Water & Sewage Corporation’s Sewage Treatment Plant (water); and met & interviewed Dame Jane Goodall (animals and habitats). These are just a few of the many field trips we have taken over the years.
